2. Giving Simone the big picture

Peter strides briskly towards Simone's office. (You do a lot of striding at Entrex.) Laptop in one hand, report in the other.

First comes what he calls his "Do you want the good news or the bad news" presentation. IT consultancy's going through a bad patch, and the report shows the whole sector is suffering, with local authorities making deep cuts in their IT spending and FTSE-100 firms taking another look at their external advisory budgets.

Surprisingly, however, the press is warm about Entrex. Of 67 articles in the financial papers, a full quarter are "advocates" - not merely positive, but actually cheerleading for Entrex. Peter clicks a few links in MediaDashboard's lower layer to brighten Simone's day.

The pink paper notes the high proportion of female executives changing the industry; another journal thinks the UK firms have a lot to teach the rest of Europe. Peter can almost hear the gears meshing in Simone's brain. Does the perceived focus on equal rights put Entrex ahead of its peers when bidding for government contracts? There's a £16m proposal in the next office right now that could use a boost. Peter scribbles a note.
