IMMI report shows migration of television viewers to online viewing A US research report has recorded a strong rise in the percentage of people viewing TV on the internet, highlighting the shift in consumer habits from 'traditional TV' to the web. Poll by Superbrands Council reveals Google as UK’s number One brand Google has become UK’s number one brand in a poll by Superbrands Council, reported Associated Press on 21 July. Google replaced Microsoft to be named as “superbrand” for the first time after being in the third place last year. Chairman of the Superbrands Council Stephen Cheliotis said that the results show Google’s continuing dominance in the UK. DMA study reveals direct marketing contribution to the UK economy The Direct Marketing Industry has contributed £50.5 billion to the UK economy in 2007, revealed DMA’s Economic Impact of the Direct Marketing Industry 2008 study. The contribution showing a 15.4 percent increase on 2006 has generated 3.4% of total employment in the UK since 2006. Facebook privacy breach leads to exposure of birth-dates Sophos has reported of an accidental disclosure of personal information by Facebook after a Sophos senior consultant revealed that a security error by Facebook during its public beta test for its new design for members' profiles led to the exposure of birth date information.
